Almost every design piece I use has a nod to the ’70s—it brings exciting, eclectic vibes to the space.

Almost all my projects feature FLOR not only because of the durability but also because there is an endless amount of creation that can happen.

Learn More About Blueberry Jones Design

Tell us about Blueberry Jones Design and your design philosophy.

My designs are vibrant, eclectic, playful, and risk-taking. I have a background in art, which translates into my spaces. I love to infuse colors, patterns, and textiles that push the boundaries of design while still creating cohesive interiors that become the backdrop of my clients’ daily lives. When designing spaces, one thing I always make sure to add is an out-of-the-box piece that challenges my clients and their design styles. Most of the time, that is the piece they end up loving the most!

What made FLOR a good fit for the projects you’re working on?

I love designing with FLOR rugs! Almost all my projects feature FLOR not only because of the durability but also because there is an endless amount of creation that can happen. Whether you’re adding borders and textures or creating your own designs, you’re not constrained by anything. My clients also love FLOR because, at the end of the day, I’m designing for families and their lifestyles, and with FLOR, I can create a beautiful, dynamic space that is also life-proof.

What’s the most exciting thing about designing your own space?

When designing my own space, my philosophy is similar to when I’m creating for my clients, but I am definitely more of a risk-taker. In my current home, I have been experimenting more with mismatched colors, which has been very fun. FLOR seamlessly fits into my design process because it allows me to play with colors in a unique way—even the more neutral products can liven up a space with the variety of textures and patterns.

What are some of your favorite interior design trends right now?

People want to infuse interest into their spaces again, and I’m here for it! In recent years, we saw tranquility, minimalism, and less-is-more design, which is lovely, but it felt like we lost a bit of design expression during that time. Now, we’re starting to see more maximalism that emphasizes creativity through color, layering, and texture.

How do you make each space you design unique?

So often, we get wrapped up in emulating design inspirations from social media platforms that we lose the creativity and artfulness that should flourish when designing. To help foster unique spaces for my clients, I always start with their functional requests and then use their inspirations as the roadmap that my creativity grows from. This allows the space to become unique while remaining tailored to their design style.

You’re putting a FLOR rug in your home. Tell us a little about the space and the rug you chose for it.

I am a huge fan of op art, so when I was given the chance to design a Signature Rug using the FLOR Design Studio, I knew I wanted to experiment with designing an optical illusion. I used the Made You Look carpet tiles to design Hounds Flair, a structured, geometric, bold, and unique product. It complements the organic mural in my entryway while adding a playfulness that draws the eye in.
