Meet Diane Rath

Tell us about yourself, The Rath Project, and your design philosophy.

The Rath Project focuses on family-friendly designs and understanding the needs of young families. We love pushing people outside of the box with color, pattern, texture, etc., while also making sure we capture their vision. Our clients are typically looking for eclectic, fun, colorful, and whimsical interiors.

You bring something new to every interior you design. How do you highlight the personalities of each space to make it unique?

We start by visiting our client’s home when the whole family is there, pets included! We want to see how they interact with the space and how the design impacts everyone’s day-to-day. The design of a space needs to function for everyone, and we want the personalities of each family member to shine.

What makes FLOR a good fit for the projects you’re working on?

It’s perfect for busy families and lifestyles! I always recommend it for clients who need a rug to hold up to everyday messes. It’s super flexible and cleanable. If a stain won’t come out, just replace a square. The customizability is also a huge plus when it comes to unique sizing and cuts—and it’s sustainable.

What’s the most exciting thing about designing your own space?

I use my house as a design laboratory; if there’s anything different and interesting that I want to try, I test it out in my house first. I love playing with color drenching and paint trends, and also wallpaper—it’s all over my house!
